NHS GP registration

Recommended Posts

Dear Deutsche in London,
I am moving from Berlin to London tomorrow. I put my German KK on Anwartsschaft until December when it should become clear what reciprocal agreements would look like after the end of the transition period. I need to register with a GP but will initially live with friends until I have found a place of my own. I am interested to hear from those of you who did not have an own address if you signed up and then moved to a different GP when you found a place of your own or did you just wait while searching for a place and were not signed up at all?
Also if any of you who moved here did not have employment I would be glad to ask you some questions if you decided to keep the beitraege for your German insurance as comprehensive health insurance that I understand is required from all those classed as "person of independent means".
If any of you have any words of wisdom please drop me a line and I hope to hear from you.
Thanks
Anders

Place of your own solltest Du innerhalb von tagen schnell finden in zeiten wie diesen.

Danke Katja & Klaus
I don't know yet if I am going to stay permanently or go back to Germany at some point and want to be sure that I can get back into the GKV and not have to go private if I do.
I will apply for pre-settled status anyway but still not sure where and when I should sign up for the GP as it will take me some time to decide where I want to live depending on how much care my friend needs and if I take another job elsewhere or not.
Still happy to hear how others decided if you were in a similar situation.
Have a chillled weekend

Registering at GP is not the same in every place! My GP asks for a 3-month verified address. The GP near the house where I rent the rooms,  doesn't ask, he needs new patients

Anders, there is no need to go to a private KV if you have to go back to Germany, don"t worry.
