Hallo liebe Deutsche in London und in ganz UK,

ich bin bereits seit einem Monat in London um hier ein Paktikum zu absolvieren, lese allerdings schon seit einiger Zeit fleissig im Forum, schon lange bevor ich hergekommen bin und möchte mich an dieser Stelle auch gleich mal für all die übersichtlichen Tipps und Leitfäden bedanken.

Das Forum hat mir während meiner Planung des Praktikums sehr geholfen, auch während meiner Zimmersuche hier (ich habe mir vor allem interessiert die Wohngegendempfehlungen durchgelesen, natürlich sollte man sich immer selber ein Bild machen, was ich auch getan habe, aber unterstützend waren die postings alle male - wer weiß wo ich sonst noch gelandet wäre ).

Also vielen Dank an alle und ich hoffe künftig auch mal die ein oder anderen helfenden Worte zu finden

Sehr geehrte Eltern, ich gehöre seit 3 Tage unter die Londonerinnen und fange nun hier an zu studieren.
Da ich doch neben dem Studium gerne abends etwas arbeiten würde und sehr kinderlieb bin würde ich es gerne hier fortsetzen (Londons Kosten überrollen doch jedes Konto....)
Zu meiner Person, ich bin 20 Jahre alt, absolvierte letztes Jahr mein Abitur und habe viele Erfahrungen mit Jugendprojekten, Kinderbetreuung ( Babysitter während meiner Schulzeit) und Kirchenarbeit.

My client is currently restructuring their Operation and as a result now requires a proven Team Manager with a background within the Outsource arena. You must come from a proven Outsource background, preferably B2C, within a target driven environment. You will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to meet and exceed targets as well as show a strong history of managing client expectations and driving performance through this



Key Accountabilities of the role include

· To manage a team proactively against the Client’s Service Level Agreement and requirements at all times.

· Achievement of Service Level Agreements through effective management of call handling times, agent availability, call quality.

· Ensure that the team meets call quality as set out in the Quality Programme.

· Manage the appraisal of individual staff members on a quarterly basis

· To deliver & monitor daily plan to staff based on work outstanding.



KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

· You must speak French, German, Spanish or Italian

· You will have previous experience as a Team Manager, preferably from the Outsource sector

· The ability to manage and prioritise own and other’s workload.

· Management of work flow, resources & priorities for individual projects and campaigns

· Control and motivation of staff.

· Reporting abilities in a number of formats i.e. Excel and PowerPoint.

· Able to communicate concisely at all levels, both internal and external.

· Able to resolve customer complaints in a timely and efficient manner.

I am 28 and I am studying at a German University to be a teacher. Dealing with children in a qualified, courteous and patient way, building children´s confidence and self-esteem and strengthening their motivation for learning and receiving the world in an active way as well as imparting varied knowledge and values according to the child´s age; all of these are key requirements I meet. I am qualified, obliging, courteous and sensitive of children´s needs.

During an internship at a primary school, we took a trip to a museum in a big city. The class consisted of 28 children from 7 to 9 years. We were three supervisors. There were many important facts and details I had to check previous to the trip and during the trip:

o I had a reasonable prior knowledge of the pupils including any special educational needs, medical needs or
disabilities.
o I carried a list of all group members.
o I directly supervised the pupils. This was particularly important when they were mingling with the public
and could not be easily identified.
o I regularly checked that the entire group was present.
o I had a clear plan of the activity to be undertaken.
o I had the means to contact the other group leaders if needing help.
o I had prior knowledge of the venue – the group leader should normally have made an exploratory visit.
o I anticipated a potential risk by recognising a hazard, by arriving, where necessary, at the point of hazard
before the pupils do, and acting promptly where necessary.
o I continuously monitored the appropriateness of the activity, the physical and mental condition and
abilities of the group members and the suitability of the prevailing conditions.

ich habe heute einen Brief vom Arzt bekommen, der mich zum Bluttest wegen meiner Schilddruesenunterfunktion auffordert...
ich hatte dem aber als ich im April das erste mal dort war um ein Rezept fuer meine Medizin zu bekommen die Ergebnisse vom letzten Bluttest mitgebracht (Februar 2010) Wird hier alle halbe Jahr ein Bluttest gemacht??? Ich mein...ich hasse Nadeln...das waer Folter!!!
Und ich sehs auch nicht ein...in Deutschland reicht doch auch 1 mal im Jahr...oder wie schauts hier aus???

ein sehr interessantes Forum! Ich hoffe, Ihr habt auch für mich ein paar gute Tipps.

Mein Mann hat einen Job in England angenommen und ich würde im nächsten Jahr gerne nachziehen. Das Problem: Ich bin deutsche (Voll-)Juristin. Ich bin zugelassene Anwältin, habe im internationalen Handelsrecht gearbeitet und schreibe gerade eine Dissertation zu einem EU-Kartellrechtlichen Thema. Da bei den Juristen allerdings die Sprache enorm wichtig ist und ich keine Muttersprachlerin bin, habe ich Bedenken, ob ich in England tatsächlich in einer Kanzlei arbeiten könnte. Ich habe im Kartellrecht außerdem keinerlei praktische (sondern nur wissenschaftliche) Erfahrung.

Hat jemand Erfahrungen oder Tipps, was in Frage kommen könnte? Gibt es z.B. auch Research-Jobs in englischen Kanzleien? Ich möchte auf jeden Fall irgendetwas sinnvolles tun.

Vielleicht hat auch jemand Erfahrung als Lecturer (Uni oder Colleges)? Gibt es solche Stellen und bekommt man sie als Nicht-Muttersprachler? Ich unterrichte auch hier in Deutschland an der Uni, hilft mir das vielleicht weiter?

Ich bin für jeden Hinweis oder Erfahrungsbericht dankbar!

Wir sind leider gerade dabei eine Beerdigung hier in England zu organisieren und haben heute erstmal ein paar Preise für Kränze/ Gestecke für den Sarg bekommen. Der günstigste liegt so um £100 aufwärts. Mir ist klar das solche Dinge immer eine menge kosten allerdings würde ich mich freuen wenn jemand ein paar Anregungen hätte am besten im Bereich West London/ SW oder slough etc. Am liebsten hätten wir einen Kranz mit wildblumen...
